Grain bagging

This is a storage technology for grain and forage that involves placing agricultural products into hermetically sealed, large-capacity plastic bags directly on the field or storage site.

Также говорят: bagging grain, storage in silo bags, flexible silo storage

The primary principle of grain bagging is the creation of an anaerobic environment. As the product and microorganisms consume the residual oxygen inside the bag, the metabolism of pests and fungi is suppressed, effectively preserving the quality of the harvested crops.

This method is essential during harvest peaks when traditional grain elevators are at full capacity. It offers a cost-effective, mobile solution that eliminates the need for expensive permanent infrastructure while maintaining product integrity for months.

Common mistakes include placing bags on uneven ground with sharp debris, failing to monitor bags for rodent or bird damage, and bagging grain with moisture levels that exceed safe storage limits, which inevitably leads to spoilage.
