The plant is distinguished by its sticky, glandular hairs that cover the stems and leaves, providing it with its common name. It typically grows in moist, open habitats, including disturbed soil areas, field margins, and cultivated crops. Its sticky nature often leads to debris accumulation, making it a nuisance during harvest operations.
