The plant thrives in diverse environments, including roadsides, waste areas, and poorly managed grasslands. Its primary impact is in the livestock sector, as it is toxic to horses, sheep, and cattle. The presence of this weed reduces the carrying capacity of pastures and renders harvested hay less nutritious and potentially hazardous to animals.
