Lambert locoweed (Oxytropis lambertii) is a member of the Fabaceae (legume) family. This perennial herb is widely recognized in agronomy as a hazardous weed, particularly problematic in livestock-producing regions. Its presence in natural grazing areas poses significant risks to the agricultural industry.
The plant is predominantly found in dry, open environments, including prairies and rangelands across North America. While it is less common in cultivated arable crops, it thrives in pasture settings, where it aggressively competes with forage grasses and legumes, eventually reducing the overall carrying capacity of the land.
