Walnut — a wonderful tree that produces uniquely composed fruits, possessing excellent taste and pleasant texture. Walnuts are widely used in cuisine, with them preparing salads, candies, cakes, sauces, pastes, and even jam from unripe fruits. The unique product is used in medicine to make tinctures.

If you have your own plot, definitely plant a walnut tree. It won’t take much space, but the benefit of its fruits is hard to overestimate. There are two main methods of planting — from seed and sapling. The seed is the fruit we eat. The advantage of this method to obtain an adult tree — no cost. You can find a ripe and large walnut on a tree growing nearby, and then plant it on your plot. The downside — such a tree will start bearing fruit only after several years.

When you buy walnut saplings from a nursery, you will get mature fruits much faster. You can choose a variety and know in advance what your future harvests and the taste qualities of the kernels will be.

When selecting a sapling, pay attention to the trunk, it should be sufficiently thick. However, leaves may not be present. This tree has a peculiarity — first, the root system forms, then the trunk, branches, and leaves develop. The root system must be healthy, with no visible damage or rot. It is very important to buy a sapling from a nursery where specialists can properly form the root ball. This will help the tree take root and develop. Another external sign that will help you choose the right sapling — saplings with abundant foliage often die and fail to germinate, so focus on roots and trunk.

Walnut trees are planted using saplings in spring, and by summer the tree will be firmly established on the plot. If you still decide to use seeds, you should plant them in autumn, because the walnut in its hard shell must freeze, and during winter complex fermentation processes occur in it, which help it germinate. Just remember to clean the outer fleshy shell, but do not remove the hard shell.

Walnut — a beautiful, strong, low-maintenance, and beneficial tree. You cannot avoid using its wonderful fruits. If you have the opportunity to grow this wonderful tree yourself, definitely do it — in a few years you will be able to enjoy delicious and crunchy fruits.
