Spring is in full swing, which means, that JSC 'Derbent Sparkling Wine Factory' is fully engaged in field work so that consumers can enjoy exceptional wine. Work is in full swing, as 2,300 hectares of fields need to be processed.

Spring is the most responsible time for a grape grower and decisive for the vines. Work on vineyards never stops, as vines require constant care, but the quality of the future harvest depends on properly conducted field work in spring.

On vineyards in picturesque and welcoming villages - Darvag, Zil, Mugarty, and Gedjuk - the plant feels great. Thanks to the warm and mild climate, abundant sunny days and valuable vines do not need to be covered. Workers of JSC DZIV will need to inspect supports and trellises, reinforce posts, beams, tension of wires, that is, support structures that allow the vineyard to grow and bear fruit. It is important to complete this within the natural deadlines. The vines themselves are carefully inspected - non-viable, freeze-damaged parts are cut off to avoid unnecessary load on the plant. Correct load on the bush is one of the secrets of viticulture.

In the village of Gedjuk, valuable grape varieties began to be cultivated in 2014, while in the villages of Mugarty, Darvag, and Zil - five years ago, which means that a truly ripe harvest will be available. Grape is an amazing plant, bringing delicious juicy berries, but to enjoy them, one needs to have patience.

The warm, sunny grapevine loves human hands and rewards diligence. On the vineyards, there are 600 workers who work on a permanent basis, but during harvest season, there are not enough hands, and an additional thousand people come out onto the fields.

Manual labor is good, but modern technology is also important. Without it, it is impossible to process such extensive vineyards. Material and technical base of the enterprise has all the capacities necessary to ensure the operation of vineyards and careful preparation of fields. This year, three MTZ 82-1 tractors, five sprayers, as many as cultivators, four sets of soil loosening aggregates, and weed control aggregates were purchased. And this is only the beginning; it is planned to regularly upgrade equipment and expand production.

Southern Dagestan seems created for viticulture; development in this direction has already shown initial successful results, and it will continue and increase turnover.
