Dry skim milk whey – a product obtained after concentration and drying of skim milk whey.
The use of this additive is relevant for various industrial sectors: from food products to animal feed mixtures.
Areas of use for dry whey:
- In the dairy industry, whey is part of a wide range of products. It is added to spreads, cottage cheese and its derivatives, yogurt, ice cream, cheese, milk drinks, sour cream products. Whey improves the properties of raw materials, making them more viscous, and the texture uniform and creamy. From a nutritional standpoint, including whey in dairy and fermented milk products increases viscosity, improves texture, increases nutritional value, creates a creamy structure, and helps reduce the freezing point of ice cream.
- In feed production, whey acts as a substitute for whole milk, and is added to animal feed mixtures to enrich them with nutrients and vitamins, increase feed volume, and reduce costs.
- Without dry skim milk whey, meat processing producers cannot operate. Whey is added to sausages, frankfurters and other meat products to increase nutritional value, create the necessary consistency, increase raw material volume, and reduce the final product cost.
- In the confectionery industry and in baking bread and bakery products, dry whey is used as a component of dough, various fillings, glazes, and pastes. Whey makes the baked goods texture more airy, helps evenly distribute fats in the mass, and imparts a pleasant taste.
- Whey is also used in brewing technology – it activates enzymes in beer wort.
- In the butter and fat industry, whey is a component of sauces.
- Whey is used in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, and is part of creams, masks, shampoos, and some medications.
- Dry skim milk whey is an accessible source of protein. Whey is an important component of sports nutrition.
How dry whey is produced
Dry whey is a white or light-yellow powder with a slightly sweet taste, odorless or with a mild characteristic milk aroma.
The technology of producing dry whey involves processing unsalted skim milk whey. Only fresh raw material is suitable for this, which is immediately subjected to cleaning and pasteurization after collection. To separate fat and remove casein dust, the whey passes through a separator. After that, the liquid enters a vacuum evaporator, where it is concentrated to a certain level.
The concentrated whey is dried using spray drying equipment.
Modern technologies and equipment have enabled the "Evromol" Group to process milk raw materials deeply and produce high-quality dry products.
"Evromol" Group sells and delivers dry milk products and milk substitutes throughout Russia, CIS countries, and Europe. We will deliver your order promptly either by our own transport or by entrusting it to a reliable transport company.
