What are PUR panels?
PUR panels are a three-layer structure, with outer layers made of stainless steel or galvanized steel of at least 0.5 mm thickness. Between the steel sheets is a high-pressure foamed PUR board with a density of at least 42 kg/m3. The layers are bonded together due to the high adhesion properties of PUR to metal. This material structure gave it a second name — sandwich panel. The outer surfaces of the panel can be without additional coating, or, as desired by the customer, with a polymer coating: single-sided, double-sided, decorative.
How are low-temperature refrigeration chambers manufactured, what to pay attention to when choosing them?
For manufacturing freezers and shock-freezing chambers, PUR panels of at least 100-120 mm thickness are used.
- Using profiled material allows manufacturing chambers of any shape, equipped with internal partitions, one or several door units.
- When using standard-sized panels, chambers of rectangular, classic shape are produced.
Refrigeration units are used to cool the prepared chamber, air coolers and convector units are used to maintain negative temperatures throughout the volume.
What is the difference between PUR panel refrigeration chambers and freezing chambers?
Fundamental and structural differences:
- Thicker PUR panels are used.
- Panel connections are performed more carefully, using lock panels with an additional built-in fastening and clamping system to prevent the formation of "cold bridges." Also, double "tongue-and-groove" connections are used.
- More powerful refrigeration equipment is used, selected according to the type and mass of the product to be stored, the freezing cycle duration, and other factors.
- Specialized conveyors and other loading and unloading equipment may be installed for moving already frozen items into the refrigeration chamber for subsequent storage.
What should be considered when choosing a freezer made of PUR panels?

Assess the dimensions of the room where the refrigeration chamber will be installed, consider the structural features of the room. Chambers can be made in ergonomic shapes to save space. - Determine the storage temperature regime for products, depending on approved norms.
- Calculate the volume and mass of stored products, review the daily turnover volume of items.
- Consider product adjacency requirements; internal partitions may be required.
- Plan whether the chamber will be operated in full mode during winter.
- Collect data on the incoming temperature of products to be frozen.
- Verify whether there are heating elements or other equipment (e.g., air conditioner outlets) near the freezer's location.
- Evaluate the average room temperature where the chamber will be located.
- Consider whether loaders will work in the chamber, how many people will be required for operation.
- Determine what loading-unloading equipment will operate in the freezer, its power.
All the above-mentioned factors significantly affect the future design of the freezer equipment and will allow designers to select the exact variant needed for a specific business, so that the freezer does not operate under excessive load and at the same time does not have excessive power reserves for energy savings.
