Adenium multiflorum is a striking woody succulent species belonging to the Apocynaceae family. Often referred to as a type of desert rose, it is distinguished by its thickened succulent stem, known as a caudex, which allows the plant to store significant water reserves, ensuring survival in its native arid habitats.

Native to the tropical regions of southern and eastern Africa, this species is highly valued by collectors and horticulturists for its spectacular, profuse flowering display. Unlike many other succulent species, it typically produces its vibrant, white-and-red-edged flowers during the winter months, providing color when other plants are dormant.

Botanically, it features narrow, leathery leaves and large, trumpet-shaped blooms. As a heliophilic plant, it requires intense sunlight to thrive and bloom effectively. If grown indoors, it necessitates a position in the brightest possible spot or the use of professional grow lights to maintain its compact, sturdy growth habit.

Successful cultivation requires a porous, well-draining substrate, such as a mix of pumice, perlite, and coarse sand. Proper irrigation is critical: during the growing season, it needs regular water, but the soil must dry out completely between waterings. In winter, water must be drastically reduced to induce a period of dormancy, which prevents root rot.
