Sessile water hyssop (Bacopa sessiliflora) is an aquatic and semi-aquatic plant species belonging to the Plantaginaceae family. Known for its distinct growth pattern and adaptability, it is widely utilized in professional aquascaping and specialized botanical collections worldwide.

The plant originates from the tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, where it thrives in wetlands, marshes, and along the shallow banks of various water bodies. Its evolutionary adaptation to fluctuating water levels makes it highly resilient and capable of transitioning between submerged and emergent growth forms, a trait valued in nursery production.

Botanically, the plant is characterized by erect stems with sessile, opposite leaves. The name "sessiliflora" refers to the flowers that develop directly in the leaf axils without a petiole.
