Florentine Rockrose

The Florentine Rockrose (Cistus florentinus) is an evergreen ornamental shrub belonging to the Cistaceae family. It is a naturally occurring hybrid between Cistus monspeliensis and Cistus salviifolius, highly valued in horticulture for its resilience and beautiful, prolonged flowering season.

Originating from the Mediterranean basin, the plant has evolved to thrive in hot, arid conditions. Its natural habitat includes rocky slopes and scrublands, which dictates its preference for well-drained, low-nutrient soils. Cultivation requirements are strict regarding drainage. Cistus florentinus demands full sun exposure to maintain its compact habit and produce abundant blooms.
