Iyokan (lat. Citrus iyo hort. ex Tanaka) is a hybrid citrus fruit belonging to the Rutaceae family. It is widely recognized as a cross between a mandarin orange and a pomelo. This fruit has gained significant popularity in Japan, where it is cultivated as a premium agricultural product known for its distinct flavor profile and refreshing quality.
The primary cultivation area for Iyokan is Japan, particularly in the Ehime Prefecture, which provides the ideal subtropical climate for the tree. Unlike more common citrus varieties, Iyokan has a localized range because it is highly sensitive to temperature fluctuations and humidity levels.
