Originating from South America, specifically in regions across Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil, this plant naturally thrives in riverine environments. It is adapted to growing in the nutrient-rich sediments of riverbeds, where it often encounters fluctuating water levels, contributing to its overall robustness and adaptability.
