The Persian Helleborine (botanical name Epipactis persica) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Orchidaceae family. While not a commercial agricultural crop, it remains a species of high ecological interest for botanists and conservationists focusing on the floral diversity of the mountainous regions of Asia.
Its natural range is primarily located in the mountainous areas of Southwest and Central Asia, including parts of Iran, Turkey, and the Caucasus. The plant occupies specific ecological niches, favoring shaded forest slopes, damp ravines, and rocky terrain where a stable, humid microclimate is maintained throughout the growing season.
Morphologically, the plant is characterized by a sturdy rhizome, an erect leafy stem, and a loose terminal raceme of flowers.
