Mediterranean spurge

Mediterranean spurge (lat. Euphorbia characias) is a striking evergreen perennial belonging to the Euphorbiaceae family. Renowned for its architectural structure and vibrant inflorescences, this plant is a staple in Mediterranean-style gardens and arid landscape designs across the globe.

The species originates from the Mediterranean basin, where it thrives in rocky, well-drained soils and open, sunny locations. Due to its natural habitat, the plant is highly adapted to dry environments, making it a reliable choice for gardens in regions with mild winters and hot, dry summers.

Botanically, it features woody-based stems covered in narrow, blue-green foliage that remains evergreen throughout the year.
