Vallesian fescue, scientifically known as Festuca valesiaca, is a perennial bunchgrass belonging to the Poaceae family. This species is widely recognized for its adaptability to harsh environments and serves as a vital component of steppe ecosystems across Eurasia.
The plant originates from the dry grasslands and mountain slopes of Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. It has successfully naturalized in various regions where extreme temperature fluctuations and limited water availability prevail, making it a critical species for ecological restoration.
