Giant Miscanthus (Miscanthus x giganteus) is a perennial grass species belonging to the Poaceae family. It is a sterile hybrid that serves as one of the most efficient bioenergy crops globally, valued for its rapid growth rate, high biomass yield, and significant carbon sequestration potential.

Originating from Southeast Asia, this crop has become widely cultivated in temperate and subtropical climates. It is characterized by its rhizomatous root system, which allows the plant to persist on the same land for 15 to 20 years.
