This species is native to the arid landscapes of the southwestern United States, specifically thriving in the harsh environments of Nevada and California.
The plant is naturally distributed across rocky outcrops, limestone cliffs, and arid desert canyons. Its survival strategy in these regions relies on slow growth and extreme efficiency in water conservation. It serves as a classic example of an organism perfectly adapted to survive in low-nutrient and moisture-stressed ecosystems.
Botanically, the Nevada greasebush is characterized by its dense, twiggy habit and often spine-tipped branches.
