The little walnut hybrid (Juglans microcarpa x Juglans regia) is a deliberate cross between the Texas black walnut and the common Persian walnut. Belonging to the Juglandaceae family, this hybrid was developed to combine the extreme cold hardiness and environmental resilience of the J. microcarpa species with the superior kernel quality and fruit size of the J. regia.
Originating from advanced breeding programs, these trees are specifically adapted for regions where traditional Persian walnuts fail due to spring frosts or severe winters.
