Cultivation requirements for this species are strict regarding drainage. It thrives in gritty, alkaline, or neutral soils with exceptional permeability. It is a classic example of a xerophytic plant, meaning it is highly drought-tolerant once established but prone to root rot if subjected to excess moisture, especially during humid or wet winters. Full sun is essential to prevent etiolation and maintain its dense, cushion-like habit.
