Due to its rapid growth rates and high energy density, it is widely recognized as a premium energy crop for sustainable heating and electricity generation.

The hybrid originates from selective cross-breeding of fast-growing willow species. Its cultivation range primarily spans Europe and North America, where the climate supports robust annual growth cycles. The plant is highly resilient and well-suited to the temperate climates found in these regions, making it a reliable source of woody biomass.
