Basket willow (Latin: Salix viminalis) is a perennial deciduous shrub belonging to the Salicaceae family. It is a highly productive agricultural crop primarily utilized for its pliable shoots, which are essential for basketry, and as a fast-growing biomass source for sustainable energy production.

Native to Europe and Asia, this species thrives in temperate climates. It is widely cultivated in various regions due to its versatility and ability to grow in diverse soil types, ranging from moist alluvial soils to slightly heavier clays, provided that drainage is adequate.
