The native range of the Turkish hazel extends from Southeast Europe to the Himalayas, with the Caucasus and Turkey being the primary centers of diversity. Trees grafted onto Turkish hazel rootstocks are known for their longevity and stability, creating highly productive and manageable orchards.

Common health issues include susceptibility to specific fungal diseases, such as powdery mildew, and insect pests like the hazelnut weevil. Effective management relies on maintaining orchard hygiene and implementing integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
