Vanda thwaitesii is a rare species belonging to the Orchidaceae family, specifically within the genus Vanda. This monocotyledonous epiphytic plant is highly prized in the horticultural sector for its unique morphological traits and aesthetic value, making it a subject of interest for both professional botanists and enthusiasts.

Originating from the island of Sri Lanka, the species is native to tropical rainforests.
