Botanically, Zoysia hybrid is characterized by a vigorous growth habit using both rhizomes and stolons. This creates a dense, carpet-like turf that is extremely effective at suppressing weeds. The leaves are typically firm and resilient, making them highly resistant to wear and tear from foot traffic or sports activities, while maintaining an attractive deep green color.

Optimal growth requires full sun exposure and well-drained, slightly acidic soil. The grass is highly efficient at water use, although regular irrigation is necessary during prolonged dry spells to maintain maximum density.
