Due to its robust spore formation, this microorganism is highly resilient, allowing it to survive in harsh environmental conditions and persist in the soil for extended periods.
Crops primarily affected by this pathogen include cereals, legumes, and certain vegetable species. The infection typically starts in the rhizosphere, where the bacteria infiltrate the root tissues, eventually moving into the vascular system.
