Citrus necrotic conditions refer to various pathological states where localized tissue death occurs in citrus trees. These symptoms are frequently associated with viral infections, such as Citrus necrotic dwarf virus, which disrupts the physiological integrity of leaves, stems, and fruits by causing cell collapse.

The disease affects a wide range of commercially significant citrus species, including sweet oranges, lemons, and grapefruits. It poses a substantial threat to citrus orchards worldwide, often leading to reduced vegetative vigor, dieback of branches, and significant economic losses due to poor fruit quality.

Key symptoms include the development of chlorotic spots that transition into necrotic lesions. These areas appear as brown or gray dead tissue on leaves. In severe cases, the necrosis affects fruit peel, resulting in sunken spots and uneven fruit ripening, which makes the harvest commercially inviable.
