Hemp mosaic is a viral disease primarily caused by the Hemp mosaic virus (HMV). The virus invades the vascular system of the host plant, systematically disrupting physiological processes, including nutrient transport and photosynthetic activity, which ultimately stunts the overall development of the plant.

The disease primarily affects Cannabis sativa (hemp). It poses a significant risk to industrial hemp plantations, where it can spread rapidly across fields if not managed. Symptoms typically manifest as a distinct mosaic pattern on the leaves, characterized by variegated light green and yellow spots.
