Once established within a plant tissue, the bacteria can persist in crop residues and soil, acting as a recurring source of infection for subsequent seasons.
Management strategies focus on minimizing plant stress and preventing the entry of pathogens. Key practices include enhancing soil drainage, employing crop rotation, and maintaining strict sanitation protocols for all agricultural equipment. When chemical control is necessary, copper-based bactericides are often employed as a preventive measure to reduce bacterial populations before they reach epidemic proportions.
