The causative agent, a colony-forming bacterium, thrives in nutrient-rich water. When these toxins accumulate in irrigation water, they can be absorbed by the root systems of various crops, leading to inhibited nutrient uptake and stunted plant growth, which significantly affects overall agricultural yield.
