Sida mosaic is a viral plant disease caused by the Sida micrantha mosaic virus (SMMV). This pathogen belongs to the geminivirus family and is known for its ability to infect a variety of hosts, primarily causing severe systemic symptoms in weed species of the Malvaceae family and specific leguminous crops like soybeans.

The host range is predominantly focused on the Sida genus, but the virus frequently spills over into commercial crops when they are grown in close proximity to infected weed reservoirs. The interaction between wild hosts and cultivated crops is a primary factor in the epidemiology of this disease.

Symptoms typically include mosaic patterns on leaves, characterized by alternating yellow and green patches. Infected plants often show stunting, leaf curling, and crinkling.
