Description
Blue Sea – a Mexican ageratum annual plant with a height of about 15–30 cm, characterized by compact and spherical growth. Its inflorescences are small, fluffy heads up to 2 cm in diameter, colored bright blue, creating a "pompon" effect against the background of green leaves.
The plant is ideal for decorating flower beds, borders, and containers. It blooms profusely and lasts from June until the first frost, and seeds can be sown in open ground in early April or immediately in May after the winter cold has passed. For growing via seedlings, it is recommended to sow seeds in March–April, followed by transplanting to a sunny spot in May–June.
Care for ageratum is simple: the plant prefers light, loose, well-drained soil with a neutral or weakly alkaline reaction. Moderate watering – 2–3 times a week, especially during flowering; overwatering should be avoided. Regular removal of withered inflorescences stimulates further blooming. Ageratum is drought and heat resistant, but if necessary, it can be fed with a complex mineral fertilizer 2–3 times per season. Thanks to its unpretentiousness and bright blue hue, it becomes a popular element of landscape design in flower beds, containers, and balconies.
