Description
Seedling of the plum-sloe Gaiovata from open pollination by alycha. Originator — Crimean Experimental and Selection Station of the All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Growing named after N.I. Vavilov. Authors: G.V. Yeremin, S.N. Zabrodina. Introduced into the State Register for the North Caucasus region in 2002.
Medium-sized tree with a columnar, sparse crown.
Fruits are large, broad-oval. Skin is dark purple with a medium waxy coating. Flesh is pink, medium density, sweet with a pleasant acidity, good flavor, medium-sized stone, semi-detaching.
Ripe in mid-late season — early August. Fruits are transportable and suitable for fresh consumption and canning. It emerges from dormancy late and blooms later than other Russian plum varieties. Self-sterile. High and regular yield. High winter hardiness. Resistant to diseases.
Valued for use in intensive orchards with planting densities up to 2-2.5 thousand plants per hectare.
