Description
Simonovskaya is a plumcot variety distinguished by large medium-sized fruits (about 45–60 g), dark red coloration, and a purple-violet bloom. The fruit skin is tender, smooth, with a medium waxy coating, yet easily separates from the flesh. The flesh is yellow-red, juicy, fibrous, with uniform cavity coloration and a sweet-sour taste with nectarine notes.
The Simonovskaya variety tree is of medium size, medium-height, and spreading. The bark on the trunk is smooth and gray; shoots are straight, brownish-brown, and hairless. Leaves are inverted-ovate, light green, hairless, with slightly pointed edges. The fruits have a small calyx basin and a wide depression, while the peduncle is short and easily separates from the branch.
The variety is characterized by high yield – about 120 c/ha – and good winter hardiness (up to -4 °C). It is resistant to moniliosis and clasterosporiosis. The fruit contains approximately 12.85% sugars and 12.02% dry matter, along with vitamin C at a level of 9.75 mg/%. Thanks to its early fruiting and high yield, Simonovskaya is suitable for both home growing and commercial production.
