Description
This variety was developed at the Far Eastern Research Institute of Agriculture by A. V. Bolonyaev through pollination of 'Ranetka' with a mixture of pollen from central Russian varieties. It is recommended and widely grown, primarily in collective and private gardens of Primorsky and southern regions of Khabarovsk Krai. Occasionally found in southern areas of Amur and Sakhalin Oblasts.
A slow-growing tree, reaching only modest sizes, with a compact, medium-density spherical crown. The trunk and first-order scaffold branches are yellowish-brown, while the branches are slightly grayish, extending horizontally or at a slight angle.
Shoots are straight, medium-length and thickness, rounded in cross-section, with short internodes, weakly hairy, and hairless on mature ones. Buds are convex, small, and sparsely arranged. Buds are conical, pressed against the stem, with brown outer scales.
Leaves are oriented sideways, medium-sized, long, oval-shaped with a doubly serrated margin, green in color, curved downward along the central vein, slightly folded upward in cross-section, and hairy on the underside. Petioles up to 20-30 mm long.
Fruits are small (average weight 36 g, maximum 42 g), flat-round or flat in shape. Skin is thin and shiny. Main color is light yellow, with an orange, striped covering. Pedicel is medium length, greenish-orange, fitting into a shallow but wide cup. Calyx is small and wide, with partially falling sepals.
Flesh is creamy, juicy, with a pleasant slightly tart-sweet flavor. Fruits mature during the ripening period. Fruit composition includes: sugars from 10.5 to 14.3%, acids 0.7 to 1.3%, and ascorbic acid up to 34.4 mg/100g. Fruits ripen in early September and remain edible until late November.
Fruits do not drop during monsoon rains or strong winds. In terms of flavor, this is a good table variety, suitable for processing into purees, marinades, and jams. It is popular in collective and private gardens.
Fruit production begins on the third to fourth year after grafting. It fruits annually and abundantly. Five- to seven-year-old trees yield 30-45 kg of fruit. At nine years, yields reach 220 centners per hectare. Productive life spans up to 15-17 years.
Cold and drought resistance is higher than other half-cultivars. The variety is resistant to the most common disease — moniliosis.
Advantages of the variety: high yield, complete resistance to monilial scorch, good fruit flavor, high ascorbic acid content.
Disadvantages of the variety: small fruits, not competitive on modern markets, limited shelf life, relatively short productive period.
The variety is used in breeding for disease resistance.
