TIKHOMIROV REMEMBER APPLE

The Tikhomirov Remember apple is a late-summer variety bred at Lomonosov Moscow State University by crossing the Izbankitsa variety with the scab immunity donor SR0523. This provides high tree resistance to scab and other diseases such as rust, gray mold, powdery mildew, and speckle. The tree has medium growth strength, a round, medium-density crown, and straight, compactly arranged branches, which facilitate care and harvesting. The variety is characterized by winter hardiness and undemanding nature, growing well on fertile soils with solar illumination.

The fruits of the Tikhomirov Remember apple are of medium size, weighing about 150 grams, sometimes reaching 170 grams. They are flat-round, slightly ribbed, and of regular shape. The skin is smooth and delicate with a light waxy bloom; the basic color at harvest maturity is greenish-yellow with a red covering, which in consumer maturity becomes pinkish and blurred. The flesh is cream-colored, of medium density, delicate, juicy, and fine-grained with a pronounced sweet-and-sour taste and a light rose aroma. The taste rating reaches 4.5 points.

The apple tree begins to bear fruit in the 4–6 year after planting, depending on growing conditions. The yield is high, averaging up to 35 tons per hectare, but with tree age, the yield may become periodic. Regular pruning is recommended to maintain fruit size and quality. The variety is recommended for growing in the Central region and suits those who value a combination of high disease resistance, good winter hardiness, and excellent fruit taste.
