Bayana

The Bayana apple variety was developed in Gorno-Altaysk in 1984 at the M.A. Lisavenko Siberian Horticulture Research Institute by cross-breeding the elite form Gorno-Altaiskoye × Belfler-Kитайка with the Altayskoye Purple variety. The tree is of medium height, with a narrow pyramidal canopy of medium density, which ensures ease of care and harvest collection. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness, making it particularly in demand for cultivation in regions with harsh climatic conditions such as Siberia and the West Siberian region. Additionally, the apple tree is resistant to scab and powdery mildew, which reduces the need for frequent treatments and increases crop reliability.

The fruits of the Bayana variety have a round shape with a slightly ribbed surface and a greenish-yellow color with a dark purple blush. The weight of the apples varies from 84 to 165 grams, indicating the large fruit size of the variety. The flesh is creamy, dense, and coarse-grained, juicy with a pronounced sweet-sour dessert flavor, making the fruits attractive for both fresh consumption and processing. Fruit ripening occurs in the first half of September, usually around the 10th to 15th, allowing for an early harvest.

Bayana variety apples have good storage capacity - the fruits can be stored for up to 4 months, and according to some data until December, ensuring the possibility of long-term use of the harvest. Due to its qualities and resistance to adverse conditions, the Bayana variety is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking a stable and quality harvest in moderately cold climates.
