Bellida

The Bellida apple tree is a new variety from Dutch breeding, obtained by crossing the varieties Aidared and Elstar. The tree is medium-sized, about 2.5–3 meters tall, with drooping branches. It is a rapid-fruiting variety and is characterized by high yield. Fruits ripen at the end of September to early October, which corresponds to a mid-late or winter ripening period. Harvesting occurs in the first decade of October, and the fruits can be stored for 4–5 months, ensuring good commercial quality.

Bellida apples are large, weighing 200–250 grams, with a flattened shape. The skin is dense and smooth, with a bright light-magenta blush covering almost the entire fruit, along with a yellow-green background. The flesh is creamy-yellow or light-colored, medium-firm, very crisp, juicy, and aromatic. The flavor is dessert-like, balanced, predominantly sweet with a slight acidity and a distinctive raspberry flavor, which is a unique feature of this variety.

The variety exhibits high winter hardiness and cold tolerance, comparable to its parent varieties. Resistance to scab and powdery mildew is moderate, requiring some attention during care. The best pollinators for Bellida are the varieties Ingrid, Elstar, James Grieve, and Rubinola. Due to its excellent flavor, marketability, and long storage life, the Bellida apple tree is an excellent choice for cultivation in both private gardens and commercial orchards.
