BULYAK

The Bulyak apple variety is a medium-sized tree with a round, medium-density crown and compactly arranged shoots. The bark on the trunk and main branches is smooth and brown; leaves are elongated, green, and glossy with finely serrated margins. This variety is characterized by good frost resistance, tolerating temperatures down to -40°C, making it suitable for cultivation in the central region. Fruiting begins in the sixth year after planting.

Bulyak apple fruits are of medium size, weighing about 100 grams, with a regular, medium-flattened shape and a smooth surface. The main fruit coloration is whitish with a red blush covering most of the fruit. The flesh is light with a greenish tint, finely granular, dense, juicy, and semi-oily, with a sweet-and-sour taste and a pleasant aroma. Commercial maturity occurs in the first half of September, and fruits can be stored until the end of January, allowing their use during the winter period.

The Bulyak variety is distinguished by regular and stable fruiting, although yield is considered below average. Average yield is about 31 kg per tree, with maximum indicators up to 67 kg. The apple tree possesses high winter hardiness and moderate resistance to scab, however, it is susceptible to fruit rot. Fruit formations are represented by simple and complex ring clusters, which contribute to crop formation. The chemical composition of fruits includes 14.4% dry matter, 11.2% sugars, 0.8% titratable acids, and 6.3 mg/100 g of vitamin C.
