Description
The Imant apple is a Belarusian selection, obtained by crossing the Antey and Liberty varieties. Trees of this variety are characterized by medium growth vigor and a compact rounded-pyramidal crown. The Imant apple bears fruit in a mixed manner with high precocity: on clonal rootstocks, trees begin to bear fruit in the second or third year after planting. Yield is stable and high; five-year-old trees can produce up to 25 kg of fruit annually.
Imant apples are distinguished by their large size—the weight of one apple is 180-200 grams. They have a rounded-obtuse conical shape with noticeable ribbing. The fruit color is green with a blurred dark-red flush and a purple sheen, giving them an impressive and memorable appearance. The flesh of the apples is tender, greenish-cream, medium density, and finely grained. In taste, the fruits are crisp, juicy, with a tart-sweet note that becomes sweeter and more pleasant upon storage.
The Imant variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and disease resistance, especially to scab, to which it has absolute immunity. Also, the apple tree is relatively resistant to bark and wood diseases. The fruits are well transported and stored for a long time: in cellars they retain freshness until the end of April, and in a refrigerator until the end of May or early June. Due to these qualities, the variety is suitable for cultivation in regions with a harsh climate and is an excellent choice for gardeners who value high quality and reliable crop.
