Kibo

The KIBO apple is a winter variety of Urals selection, bred at the South-Urals Institute of Horticulture and Potato Farming. This variety was created by crossing Late Zheltaya and Bogatyr and is officially included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements for the Urals region. The tree is of medium size with a round, medium-density crown, possesses high winter hardiness, withstanding temperatures down to -43°C, and is resistant to scab, making it a reliable choice for growing in harsh climatic conditions. KIBO apple fruits have a round, regular shape and medium weight of about 65 grams, maximum up to 80 grams. The main fruit color is greenish-yellow with a bright dark-red blush covering the entire surface of the apple. The flesh is white, dense, fine-grained, and juicy, with a characteristic spicy aroma and sour-sweet taste. The variety is characterized by high fruit storage capacity, allowing them to be stored for up to 6-8 months, which enables their use during the winter period up to 240 days after harvest. The KIBO apple is an early-fruiting variety, beginning to yield fruit as early as the fourth year after planting. High yield and universal fruit purpose make this variety attractive for various applications, including fresh consumption and use in cooking.
