Moskvichka

The Moskwitchka apple variety is a tree of medium growth strength with a round and compact crown. This autumn variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness, enduring temperatures down to -35…-38 °C with minimal freezing damage. The tree is resistant to scab and other diseases, making it undemanding and reliable for cultivation in various regions, including the Moscow region and the Central region. The variety has medium precocity, with fruiting beginning around the 5th year after planting.

Fruits of the Moskwitchka variety have medium to above-average size, typically weighing around 130-150 g, with a maximum weight reaching 200 g. Apples are of regular shape—flat-round or wide-conical, with smooth skin and a delicate pink blush covering most of the fruit. The main color is greenish at harvest, becoming whitish upon ripening. The flesh is white, fine-grained, dense, and juicy, with a good slightly sour-sweet taste that received a high tasting score. The maturation period falls in early September, and fruits can be stored until November at a temperature of about 0 °C.

The yield of the Moskwitchka variety is high—reaching about 12 tons per hectare in industrial plantations. The tree is characterized by resistance to shattering and uneven ripening of fruits, although these shortcomings are present to a lesser extent.
