PIROS

The Pyros apple variety is a high-yielding summer variety of German selection, characterized by early fruiting, usually beginning 2-4 years after planting. The tree is of medium height, reaching 2.5-3.5 meters, and forms a rounded, spreading canopy of medium density. The variety boasts high frost resistance and immunity to major fungal diseases, such as scab and powdery mildew, which allows it to be grown without the need for chemical treatment.

Pyros variety fruits are large, weighing from 130 to 200 grams, round in shape with yellow-green skin covered in a bright red or raspberry blush that covers most of the surface. The flesh is creamy in color, dense, juicy, and crisp, with a harmonious sweet-and-sour taste and a distinct caramel aroma. The ripening period falls in late July to early August, making this variety one of the earliest summer apples.

A feature of the variety is the good storage life of the fruits — they can be stored in a refrigerator for up to three months, which is unusual for summer varieties. Pyros apples have high transportability and a high-quality appearance, and are not prone to sudden overripening. The variety is versatile, suitable for both personal consumption and commercial cultivation. Thinning of fruits is recommended to prevent crop overload and ensure high fruit quality.
