Description
The apple tree Podolyanka is an old Ukrainian autumn-ripening variety, distinguished by large fruits with a pleasant sour-sweet taste. The fruits have a round, slightly flattened shape and weigh between 140 to 300 grams. The apple skin is green-yellow with a slight red blush, while the flesh is white, firm, crisp, juicy, and slightly tart, making the taste especially memorable and reminiscent of childhood.
The tree forms a slightly dense crown and is characterized by high frost resistance and resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew and scab. The apple tree requires minimal care, which simplifies cultivation and ensures high yields. Fruit harvesting begins in mid-September, and commercial maturity arrives by the end of November. Thanks to its qualities, apples retain all their beneficial properties and excellent taste until December, and when stored under appropriate conditions — until March.
This variety is the result of selection experiments using genes from the Jonathan and Apot Alexei varieties, which ensured its high commercial and taste qualities. Podolyanka is valued for its long storage life, resistance to adverse conditions, and ability to maintain freshness and juiciness of fruits for several months after harvest.
