Description
Late-winter variety selected by the North Caucasus Research Institute of Mountain and Piedmont Horticulture, obtained by hybridization of Black Ben Davis with Antonovka. 600 g. Breeders: R. S. Shidakov, A. S. Shidakova.
Tree is strong-growing with a rounded, moderately dense crown. Stem with smooth gray-brown bark. Fruit-bearing on simple and complex ring and spear buds.
Shoots are curved with relatively long internodes. Leaves are fairly large, elongated, egg-shaped, curved, blunt-serrated at the edge, on medium-length petioles, with large lanceolate bracts.
Flowers are large, dish-shaped, light pink, aromatic. Stigmas are long, glabrous, with stigmas raised above the anthers.
Fruits of medium size (135-140 g), one-dimensional, round, regular in shape. Fruit surface is smooth and shiny. Main skin color is greenish-yellow, with a bright red blush covering almost the entire fruit surface, and large white subcutaneous spots.
Flesh is whitish-yellow with a greenish tint, firm, finely-grained, very juicy, with a good sour-sweet flavor. Sugar content — 8.9%, titratable acids — 0.48%, ascorbic acid — 6.2 mg/100g.
Late-winter ripening variety. Harvest maturity of fruits occurs at the end of October.
Early-bearing variety (enters fruiting stage on the 3rd-4th year after planting in the orchard). High resistance to scab and powdery mildew.
Advantages of the variety: high resistance to scab and powdery mildew, attractive, one-dimensional, brightly colored fruits with excellent flavor.
Disadvantages of the variety: moderate winter hardiness of main scaffold branches and fruit buds to return cold.
