TEN'KOVSKAYA

The 'Ten'kovskaya' apple variety is an autumn variety developed at the Tatarstan Research Institute of Agriculture under the leadership of G.I. Rozanova. The tree is of medium height, reaching about 4.5 meters, with a dense, broadly rounded or broadly pyramidal crown with a diameter of about 4 meters. Shoots are of medium thickness, straight and arched; leaves are medium-sized, round, with delicate venation. The variety is characterized by a mixed type of fruiting and begins to bear fruit in the 4th-5th year after grafting. Resistance to scab is average, frost hardiness is satisfactory, making it suitable for cultivation in the Middle Volga region and Tatarstan.

Fruits of the 'Ten'kovskaya' variety are of medium size, with an average mass of about 157 grams and a maximum of 210 grams. They have a slightly conical or rounded shape with wide but not strongly pronounced ribs. The skin is thin, smooth, without a waxy bloom, the main color is greenish-cream with a weak reddish-brown blush. The flesh is light yellow or white, dense, finely-grained, very juicy and firm, with a pronounced sour-sweet taste and strong aroma. The chemical composition of the fruits includes 17.1% soluble dry matter, 12.5% sugars, 1.74% titratable acids, and 14 mg of ascorbic acid per 100 grams.

Fruits ripen in September and are well preserved in storage until January, ensuring their long freshness and suitability for fresh consumption. Additionally, apples are suitable for processing, including making jams and compotes. The variety has good transportability, which facilitates its marketing. 'Ten'kovskaya' is a self-sterile variety, so for pollination it is recommended to use the 'Volzhskaya Krasavitsa' and 'Prekrasnoye' varieties. Reproduction is carried out by winter grafting and budwood insertion.
