JUBILEINOYE SHEVCHENKO

The apple tree of the Jubileinoye Shevchenko variety is a medium-sized tree with an oval, moderately dense crown and a height of about 2.7–2.9 meters. The branches are straight, growing at a close to direct angle, with smooth gray bark on the trunk and main shoots. Leaves are large, elliptical, dark green, wavy-edged, and moderately hairy. Flowers are pinkish, fragrant, medium in size. Fruiting occurs on simple and complex spur formations; this variety is early-bearing, starting to produce fruit in the third or fourth year after planting. The fruits of the Jubileinoye Shevchenko apple tree are small, weighing from 38 to 49 grams, round, slightly ribbed, with a delicate, smooth, oily, and shiny skin. The main color of the fruits is greenish-yellow with blurry dark red areas. The pulp is yellow, medium density, fine-grained, juicy, with a sour-sweet taste and weak aroma. The fruits have high marketability and good transportability, are not prone to dropping, making them versatile for fresh consumption as well as for making compotes, preserves, juices, and jam. The storage period of the fruits is about two months. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness, withstanding frosts down to -43°C, and resistance to scab. The yield is average, about 11.7 tons per hectare, with maximum figures up to 18.6 tons. Fruiting is not sharply periodic, the regularity is medium. Among the disadvantages of the variety are rapid aging of trees, average drought tolerance and heat resistance, as well as brittleness of branches. The apple tree is self-infertile; for pollination, it is recommended to use varieties Martynovskoye and Sinap Minusinsky.
