Zorya Podillya

Apple Zorya Podillya is an old Ukrainian variety, developed by crossing Jonathan and Aport Alexander varieties. This variety belongs to the autumn-winter group, with fruits ripening in the second decade of September, while consumer maturity arrives in November. The fruits are round or slightly flattened, with greenish-yellow skin and bright red blush, weighing 140 to 300 grams. The flesh is white, dense, juicy, with a pleasant sour-sweet flavor and aroma reminiscent of childhood. The apples retain their flavor and quality when stored in a refrigerator until March. The tree is medium-sized, reaching 2.5-3 meters in height, with a broadly round, moderately dense crown. The flowers are large, pink, and abundant. The apple tree begins fruiting on the 4th-5th year after planting, showing high yield — from 12-15-year-old trees, 50 to 80 kg of fruit can be harvested. The variety is highly frost-resistant, allowing it to be grown in northern regions of Ukraine. Additionally, Zorya Podillya is resistant to fungal diseases such as powdery mildew and scab, reducing the need for intensive care. For successful cultivation, choose a sunny, wind-protected location with loose, fertile soils — sandy loam, medium loam, or chernozem. The apple tree does not tolerate waterlogging, so good drainage is essential. Due to its low maintenance requirements, high yield, excellent taste, and long storage life, the Zorya Podillya variety is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking quality and tasty apples with minimal care.
