Engineering approach to sunflower harvesting

The JNS header from the "Berdyanski Zhatky" plant is engineered as a specialized tool for direct sunflower harvesting. Unlike universal grain headers, the focus here is on minimizing losses during cutting and feeding the heads, which directly impacts seasonal profitability.

Key components and their functions

• Cutting system: The knife drive is powered by a planetary mechanism (gearbox), providing a high stroke rate with minimal vibration. This allows for high-speed operation without the "shattering" effect, keeping seeds inside the head.
• Lifters: The elongated shape of the dividers-lifters is the primary solution for gently lifting lodged stalks. The geometry prevents the sunflower head from snagging before reaching the blade and ensures smooth delivery to the cutting zone.
• Reel: The reinforced three-blade reel features adjustable reach and rotation speed, allowing the operator to adapt to crop density and height without damaging the heads through impact.
• Auger: A large-diameter auger with adjustable fingers ensures a stable mass flow even when harvesting tall hybrids, preventing clogging of the combine's intake chamber.

The practical value of this design lies in the purity of the grain tank. A rigid frame with load compensators ensures structural integrity even during intensive work on uneven terrain, which is critical for maintaining precise clearances between the fingers and the knife.
