Engineering Architecture of the Sprayer

The Berthoud Raptor is engineered as a high-performance self-propelled sprayer for large-scale operations. The machine is built around the «active chassis» concept, where weight distribution and adjustable ground clearance allow operators to work in challenging field conditions without damaging crops. The Cummins power unit, coupled with a Bosch Rexroth hydrostatic transmission, delivers predictable torque, which is critical when exiting turns or navigating slopes.

Hydraulics and Boom Stability

A key component of this machine is the Axial boom stabilization system. The mechanical suspension with a central axis allows the boom to maintain a horizontal position regardless of chassis oscillations. This solution eliminates the risk of boom whipping during sharp maneuvers. The hydraulic system provides rapid response to height changes, ensuring a stable spray pattern even at high speeds across uneven terrain.

Application System: Precision in Detail

The core of the system is the Omega piston-diaphragm pump with a capacity of up to 550 l/min. Its advantage over centrifugal pumps lies in its ability to maintain consistent flow even as pressure changes. Combined with the Dualmatic or E-Pilot electronic control systems, the operator gains sectional control, which minimizes overlaps and over-application of chemicals. Integration with GPS guidance makes the application process fully automated, removing human error from field boundary navigation.
